Is Wellness the new buzzword for Urban Regeneration? (Part 2)

Kinley have achieved great success in designing and constructing bespoke planters in Corten steel and other materials resulting in greatly enhanced, naturalised spaces.

The digital revolution is turning the workplace format upside down. Tomorrow’s office will not be arranged departmentally with nice green planters delineating open plan floors. Orthodox workplaces are not the optimal design for Activity Based Working.  Horses for courses – networking, quiet space, chill-out, spreadsheet concentration, interviewing, and refectory areas – optimum conditions are different for each activity.

Whether working, shopping, or enjoying recreation (not to mention our residential expectations) the digital revolution is forcing radical rethinking on how space is allocated to attract workers, shoppers and entertainment seekers. Wellness factors now dominate the thinking of leading interior design architects globally.

Fortuitously, wellness factors collide with biophilic design thinking, popularized by Harvard University myrmecologist (the study of ants - appropriately) and conservationist E.O. Wilson over the past quarter century. It explains the extent to which humans are hard-wired to need connection with nature and other forms of life.

Blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, in office environments as well as residential spaces, offers multiple benefits. Flexibility - encouraging the abandoning of traditional fixations about where you work and contributing to the perception of additional usable floor areas adds capital value.  And all forms of terrace, patio and roof-top garden construction afford opportunities to expand vital greening to humanise community spaces.

Kinley have achieved great success in designing and constructing bespoke planters in Corten steel and other materials resulting in greatly enhanced, naturalised spaces.

For the past ten years Kinley have been listening hard to the challenges raised by the pursuit of bringing the great outdoors indoors.  Their research and development is now bearing fruit in the release of their seriously innovative Raaft terrace construction package deals.  Efficiently and elegantly, Kinley Raaft transforms major hurdles into cost effective and sustainable exterior construction solutions.

Sustainability and innovation are central to all of Kinley’s solutions. Initially, their decisive displacement of traditional, and wasteful, use of timber landscape edgings, with recycled and recyclable aluminium ExcelEdge, brought flexibility, elegance, ease of installation and low maintenance costs to eliminate ugly and decaying wooden and concrete eyesores.

The hazards and rot-proneness of timber decking were, likewise, replaced by sustainable (PEFC certificated) timber and industrial polymer Terrafina boards. Non-slip and rot-proof, two major drawbacks instantly disappeared from the terrace, patio and roof top garden construction design challenges.

Realising how these developments would contribute to the pent-up market for exterior constructions in general, Kinley next turned their creative and innovative energies to what goes under the decking - a fertile field for developments to translate difficult locations into additional, extremely valuable, outdoor living and working spaces.

Kinley gladly acknowledge their dependence on market intelligence to feed and fuel their quest to help industry professionals ‘achieve amazing spaces’. Their technical sales team enthusiastically participate in seminars, exhibitions and CPDs to further enrich living and working environments through sustainable and cost-effective innovations - Book your CPD today!   They also welcome visits from industry professionals to their Head Office in the centre of the East Sussex High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the site of a former Guinness hop farm.
