The project detail
Comprising five buildings of varying heights up to 23 storeys, the Upper Riverside area is mainly residential with recreational facilities. The glass and stone fronts are designed to maximise light and the awe inspiring towers have cantilever decked balconies with views over Greenwich and the Thames.

Choosing the product
Products installed: Terrafina composite decking
Application: Flooring on all the balconies for the residential apartments Decking was used with the shallow track fixed to the balcony frame which meant that no pedestals were required.
Managing the installation
The balcony components were built as modules in the Netherlands and shipped to site in Greenwich for construction. Terrafina decking was transported to the factory for assembly.
The installation contractor wanted a product that was quick and simple to fit. Terrafina was the perfect choice – with its shallow joist profile and unique clip and clamp system, installation was easy.
Overcoming the challenges
The particular challenge for this project: Fast paced – The nature of the project meant that there was often a requirement for products to be on site quickly, with short lead times. The Kinley team reassured our client that we were available for any challenges that should arise on site and met tight deadlines so the project was not delayed.
The end result
This phase of the development sees contemporary and stylish residential apartments with stunning terrace spaces and far-reaching views. The balconies incorporate decking with green areas, plants and trees to create a tranquil spot in the middle of a hectic city. With on-site facilities, a central location and aspirational design, this is an ideal spot for young professionals to call home.
SOM (Skidmore Owings and Merrill) architects required a grey-brown coloured decking to establish the contemporary design, combined with a high-quality, durable decking that matched the superior materials used throughout this prestigious scheme. It also needed to be quick and easy to install to avoid delays. Kinley’s Terrafina decking met and exceeded all these expectations. Our product was matched by our aftercare service, and our client was extremely grateful for our continued support.
I’d like to express huge satisfaction with the performance of the whole Kinley team. We are not an easy client and we often need ad-hoc solutions and fast deliveries within 24 hours. For Kinley this was never a hassle, and they were happy to accommodate all our little requirements very promptly.
Kinley’s products/services are not only of high standard and quality, but also come with excellent support and aftercare which puts them way ahead of their competition. We will definitely work with these guys again!
