BALI Landscape Awards and a Large Landscape Architectural Project in London

Over 110 entries received a total of 79 awards at BALI's 38th annual awards ceremony, hosted by journalist, broadcaster and former Conservative party politician, Michael Portillo.

Attended by 830 BALI members and guests, 37 employees from BALI registered contractor, Graduate Gardeners, also attended to celebrate the company’s 40 years of award-winning landscape design and construction.

Elsewhere in London this week, Mayor Boris Johnson has approved a landscaping plan to revamp a west London wasteland. A Ballymore master-plan to regenerate Brentford Waterside was drawn up by a design team that included architecture practices AHMM, Glenn Howells Architects and Maccreanor Lavington and will transform an area of wasteland between Brentford High Street and the Grand Union Canal.

Along with a host of 900 homes, landscape architects Grant Associates have designed lanes, pathways, bridges and waterside landscape spaces that will link the development to the high street and to the canal. Part of the landscape design strategy is to reinstate the character of the industrial site’s historic yards and a number of historic buildings that have already been restored. So watch this space for some top-level landscape design and architecture in 2015.
