Premium metal garden edging in 4 easy steps

Mark, cut, lay, connect. Get ready to redefine your landscape in just 4 simple steps.

  1. Set out – Mark out the area you wish to install the metal garden edging. Use a spray marker and then dig a 100mm deep trench.
  2. Cut – Simply cut the edging using an angle grinder or hacksaw to achieve your desired length. Corners can be easily achieved by securing to a workbench and bending 90 degrees.
  3. Lay – Position the edging, ensuring the Flax Fixing Stakes are on the side of the edging that is less likely to be seen. Fix the stakes through the loops in the back of the edging, without fully fixing down.
  4. Connect – Join the edging and stake down. Once fully satisfied, simply fix the stakes down below the top of the edge.

Metal garden edging FAQs

What are the general benefits of using metal garden edging?

Using metal garden edging over other materials offers several benefits, including:

  • Durability: Metal garden edging is highly durable and can withstand various weather conditions, such as rain, snow, and heat.
  • Appearance: It provides a clean and professional look to your outdoor space, giving it a polished and finished appearance.
  • Maintenance: Metal edging requires minimal maintenance compared to other edging materials. It does not rot, warp, or require regular painting.
  • Easy installation: Metal lawn edging is relatively easy to install, especially when using pre-formed sections or strips.
  • Versatility: It can be used in various landscaping applications, including straight lines, curves, or irregular shapes.

What types of metal are commonly used for garden edging?

Steel and aluminium are the most common metals used for garden edging. Steel edging is strong and rigid, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications or areas that require more stability. Aluminium edging is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easy to handle.

Can metal garden edging be used for curved designs?

Yes, metal edging can be easily bent or shaped to create curved designs. Simply secure your lawn edging and bend to the desire curvature.

Is metal edging safe for pets and children?

Metal edging is generally safe for pets and children when properly installed. However, it's important to ensure that the edging is securely fixed and does not have any sharp or exposed edges that could cause injury. Regular inspection and maintenance can help prevent any potential hazards.

How long does metal garden edging last?

The lifespan of metal edging varies depending on factors such as the quality of the material, environmental conditions, and maintenance. Under normal conditions, it has a life expectancy of over 20 years.
