Little Chalfont Nature Park
Introduction
Little Chalfont Nature Park, nestled in the charming village of Little Chalfont in Buckinghamshire, is a hidden gem within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This serene park, created by the local community, blends preserved natural grasslands and woodlands into a captivating landscape. Covering just 4.6 acres, it features a rare wildflower meadow, ancient woodlands, and historical remnants of a cherry orchard and clay pits used for brick-making.
Project details
Owned by the Little Chalfont Charitable Trust and managed by the Little Chalfont Parish Council, the park represents a significant community effort. The Parish Council commissioned Greenstone Landscapes as the main contractor to develop pathways that would enhance public access while preserving the park’s natural beauty.
Recognising the potential for further enhancement, Greenstone Landscapes approached us at Kinley, confident that our AluExcel edge detail would add the perfect finishing touch.
Material selection and benefits
To complement the choice of Rustic Oak Resin Bound Gravel, Greenstone Landscapes selected Kinley’s flagship AluExcel edge detail. Due to the path's hard surface type, the strong AluExcel base with a tapered top edge will provide stability to a refined design for years to come.
This combination ensured that the pathways would be both durable and visually striking, seamlessly blending with the park’s tranquil environment.
Kinley supplied AluExcel edging for over 490m2 of pathways, along with the 120m2 entrance area.
Testimonials
Upon completion we were pleased to receive the following comments from the Project Manager:
‘’I just wanted to write and say a big 'thank you' to all the team who have completed the work on our paths project. They have done an excellent job and we are really pleased with the finished product. There were no issues arising from the inspection and handover today.
As Project Manager, I found every one good to work with and very responsive when being asked to do something differently or when things weren't going quite as we wanted.’’
Greenstone Landscapes:
"Enhanced by the formable and discreet Kinley AluExcel edge detail, the final appearance was both striking and complementary to the picturesque and tranquil park".
