Encompassing the ingenious in modern architecture and with iconic views of London, the Shard was the perfect scene of our recently share-hosted event for the Fit-out, Architecture, Build, Refurbishment, Interiors and Construction industry (FABRIC).
Taking place on 5th July, the event was a fascinating evening starting with a talk from well respected speaker Marek Tribedi about creating workspaces that match the culture and needs of the people. An excellent and functional working environment is more than just the size of the space – it encompasses design, layout, lighting and additional touches like highly desirable outdoor breakout areas.
This was followed by networking, canapés and a spot of gin tasting with Slingsby. Around 70 guests joined us from architect and design practices, as well as development companies.
The purpose of the event was to learn more from each other around the subject of creating better workplaces for people. For us, that meant encouraging our industry colleagues to imagine the possibilities that outdoor environments can bring to businesses.
Outdoor space is not only key for contemporary urban living, but increasingly we are seeing a demand for businesses in cities to have external space for working areas and break time. The evening was a perfect opportunity to collaborate with like minded professionals who were enthused by our commitment to pushing the boundaries of amazing outdoor spaces.
The evening would not have been possible without our co-hosts, including
Attendees came from a wide range of companies including Gillespies, BW interiors, Habitat Action, BAM, CBRE, Berkeley Group and many more. All attendees contributed to an informative and lively evening.
Guy Stanley, FABRIC event organiser and Managing Partner, Stansons said of the event,
“From the comments, noise, drinks and messages I have received, I can safely confirm that FABRIC at The Shard was an outstanding success! Credits and a massive thanks to everyone for being such great guests and making it the special time it really was. We are most certainly looking at hosting another in October.”
At Kinley we always champion the benefits of outdoor living. However, we see that the commercial world is still behind the times in comparison to residential and public spaces. We’ve previously talked about the workplace revolution, and how ‘wellness’ factors have a positive impact on productivity and team collaboration.
The overwhelming support for innovative design, collaboration and new ideas at the FABRIC event is another step closer to realising the workplace revolution.
As always, we strive to create amazing spaces that truly work for people. If you want to have a chat with one of our experts about designing and implementing a successful outdoor work area, contact us. We look forward to the challenge.
The next FABRIC event will take place in October. Find out more about the event at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/fabric-at-the-shard-tickets-47589835479. As the first event was hugely oversubscribed, we strongly recommend that you join the waiting list to be informed when tickets are released.
