Resin-bound surfaces are rapidly becoming a popular hard landscaping choice for paths and driveways.

Requiring less maintenance than traditional loose aggregates such as gravel and chippings and less industrial-looking than tarmac, concrete or block paving, they are resistant to weed growth and frost damage. They also provide a permeable, SUDS-compliant surface that is seamless, slip-resistant and easy to clean.

Resin-bound rubber particles also offer a hardwearing, low-maintenance surface for areas around play equipment, swimming pools and other locations where a non-slip, shock-absorbant surface is required to prevent fall injuries. Manufactured from recycled tyre rubber, it is a cleaner and longer-lasting alternative to other environmentally-friendly options such as bark chippings, which are easily displaced by use and are prone to rot and fungal growth.

Not all edging products are equal

Aluminium edging is commonly used to give a resin-bound surface a hardwearing, clearly defined border or to create adjoining areas of contrasting colours, but often these are general-purpose products used to trim a wide variety of products including furniture and shop fittings, window frames, fences and railings. Not all of these are designed or suitable for outdoor use or these applications, and a cheaper alternative can quickly become a false economy.

ResinEdge is a specialist product developed exclusively by Kinley, one of the UK’s leading and most-trusted designers and manufacturers of heavy-duty commercial quality landscape edging. It has been designed to withstand the treatment and conditions expected in an outdoor environment.

ResinEdge offers ease of use and versatility

Available both as flexible and rigid edging, ResinEdge features a wide footplate and an 18mm depth, while its 3mm wall thickness increases to a 5mm thick top edge bead for added strength and to create a smooth profile free of sharp edges.

Both the rigid and the flexible edging use the same clip-on connector strips to easily join lengths, so they can be used together to quickly form profiles that seamlessly combine straight edges and sweeping curves. The driveway below installed by resin experts Oltco demonstrates this.
